How to Tabulate an All-Around or Pageant
An all-around or pageant is a competitive event involving two or more disciplines (usually three). This guide explains how to tabulate the overall winner. But first, here's a breakdown of how Twirlmate calculates everything under the hood.
How all-around tabulation works
All-around tabulation uses the total placement points for each contestant to decide the overall winner. The person with the lowest points wins.
Sometimes the placement points for a discipline are weighted differently, so that certain disciplines contribute more or less towards the overall results. For example, in NBTA, modeling accounts for 20% of the overall result, while strut and solo account for 40% each.
Ties within each discipline remain unbroken. Ties at the overall level, however, get broken by looking at the placement points/final score for each discipline. The order of the disciplines' tie-breaking priority is set by the organization. In the case of NBTA, solo is the first tie breaker, followed by strut, and then modeling. If two or more contestants are tied in all disciplines for both placement points and final score, the all-around tie stands.
Here's how to tabulate an all-around.
1. Find the all-around division
The page for all-around tabulation is located in the "{year} Results" section of the left navigation menu. On the all-around results page, you'll find a list of divisions in which contestants are competing.
For each division, you can see its current tabulation status, which might be:
Scheduled (no results yet)
Judging Complete (scores are entered and finalized, but no places have been awarded yet)
Tabulation Complete (scores are in and placed are awarded, but not published yet)
Results published (visible in the attendee portal).
Clicking on the name of a division will take you to a new page.
2. Tabulate all disciplines
On the division page, you'll find a list of disciplines as well as all-around contestants, along with a read-only version of the master results.
Start by entering scores for all contestants in each discipline. Follow this article, How to Calculate Disciplines by Score, for more information on this step.
3. Place all-around contestants
Once you've entered, finalized, and placed all discipline contestants, return to the all-around division page. At the top of the contestants table, click Place Contestants.
This will combine the discipline placement points for each contestant and determine the overall winner, breaking any ties along the way.
4. Print and publish results
If you'd like to print and/or publish the results in the attendee portal, click the Print and Publish Results button at the top of the division page. You will be taken to a new page to perform either of these actions.
Attendees will not see the overall results or any discipline results until they are published.
Congratulations! You've successfully tabulated an all-around with Twirlmate!
