Parents: How to Set Up Your Twirlmate Account

Welcome to Twirlmate for Parents and Athletes! This guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up your account as a parent of an athlete.

After signing up with Twirlmate and logging in for the first time, you'll set up the basics of your account. The first thing you'll do is select the roles you play in the twirling world. The roles you select in this step will determine what information we collect during the rest of the account setup process.

Start by checking the Parent box.

Next, you'll be asked for your name, address, and organizational knowledge. Providing your address now will expedite future registration and check-out steps. If you choose to publish your profile for other Twirlmate users or the general public to see, your city and state information will be displayed based on the address you provide. Twirlmate will display the organizations you select as well.

Add the athlete(s) you’ll be registering for events with Twirlmate. This step creates a “nested” account for your athlete that belongs to you. If they so choose, one day they can assume ownership of their account and maintain their competitive records. Note that if you have multiple athletes who will be registering, they each need their own profile and you can create them both in this step.

Search for your athlete’s coach and select them if they’re already a member of Twirlmate. This step sends a “coach request” to the person you choose. Once they accept the request, Twirlmate will automatically include their name in your athlete’s future registration information.

If you don’t find them, send them an invitation to join Twirlmate and complete the coach request process later:

If your athlete is part of a team, group, or studio, search for them here and select them if they’re already a member of Twirlmate. This step sends a membership request to the creator of the group for your athlete. Once they’re accepted, group staff can add them to teams and register the teams for competition.

If you don’t find your group, you can send the head coach an invitation to join Twirlmate and create the group. You will be able to join the group later via the group’s personal page.

Search for your athlete’s duet and trio partners. Select them if they’re already a member of Twirlmate. Similar to the coach selection process, this step sends duet and/or trio requests to the parent/account owner of the athletes you selected. Once they accept the request, either one of you can register the duet/trio for competitions.

If you don’t find who you're looking for, you can send them an invitation to join Twirlmate and they will be able to initiate the duet/trio request to you instead.

If you selected other roles besides “parent” you will be asked a few other set-up questions.

At the conclusion of the set-up process, you will arrive at your personal dashboard:

Here you can find notifications from other users (e.g. duet requests), and access all of the information you just set up. For instance, your athlete’s information is available under the “Managed Account” section. Depending on which roles you have activated in your account settings, you will see slightly different pages in the navigation.

When you’re ready, head on over to the Events page to explore upcoming events and start the registration process.
