How to Register a Duet

The following guide will walk you through the steps for creating and registering a duet for competition.

After logging into your Twirlmate account, navigate to the “My Accounts” page. You can find it by opening the menu under the user icon in the upper right corner of the page. If you’re on a mobile device, click the three-lines icon in the upper right corner instead, then open the submenu under your email address.

Once you are on the “Managed Accounts” page, you will see a list of accounts (mainly athletes) which you can register for events. If you don’t see any yet, pause to create an account for your athlete who will be in the duet (click “Create Account”).

From the list of managed accounts, click on the name of your athlete who will be in the duet to view their profile page. Scroll down to their “Duets” section and click “Add Duet”.

Once you are on the page for creating a new duet, you will see your athlete’s name and a search field for the second athlete. Begin typing the name of the athlete who will be joining the duet:

If you do not find who you’re looking for, you have two options:

1. Contact the athlete or parent outside of Twirlmate and ask them to create an account. Once they do so, you will be able to add them to the duet.

2. Create another Managed Account for the second athlete under your own account via the Managed Accounts page.

After you click “Save”, the duet will be created in a "Confirmation Pending" state:

The account holder of the invited athlete will receive a notification about the new duet:

Next, you must wait for the account holder of the invited athlete to confirm the duet.

You will not be able to register the duet for any events until both sides have confirmed the partnership (your side was confirmed automatically when you created the duet).

Once the duet is confirmed, you can visit the registration page of the competition you want to enter. Click “Add New” to create a new registration:

On the next page, click “New Participant”:

Select the “Duet” participant type, and then choose the duet you wish to enter.

Finish registering by selecting all duet events you wish to enter. When you are ready, add the registration to your cart and proceed to checkout for payment. 

Note: only 1 person should register (and pay for) the duet.

At this time, only the person who completed the registration will receive an email confirmation of the duet registration. Please forward the information to the account holder of your athlete’s duet partner outside of Twirlmate.
