Twirlmate Glossary
A - D
Account - A user's central record in Twirlmate. Accounts have possible roles of athlete, parent, coach, judge, and event director, which can be selected in any combination with the exception of athlete. Athletes who are also primary account holders cannot have other roles.
Add-On - An optional item that event attendees can purchase during registration, such as t-shirts, programs, or towels.
Affiliations - A relationship between an event and an organization, which allows the event director to then offer organization-specific competitive events. Events can have multiple affiliations, and they can be sanctioned with an ID from the organization or unsanctioned (no ID).
Age Division - An age range as defined by a specific organization in which athletes compete. Age divisions are defined using decimal numbers in an "inclusive" manner. So if the age division has a minimum age of 13 and a maximum age of 15.99, only athletes who are 13, 14, 15 are eligible to compete.
All Around - A collection of competitive events in which all athletes compete. The winner is determined by who performs the best across all events. All arounds can be pageants or non-pageants.
All Around Variant - A particular level and age division within an all around, such as Beginner 10-12 Pageant.
All Around Variant Instance - An all around variant for a particular year or event date.
Amenity - A characteristic, feature, or selling point of an event, such as "high ceilings", or "costume vendors".
Athlete - An individual who competes in contests or participates in clinics, camps, or classes as a baton twirler. Athletes have their own profiles that are separate from, but related to/managed by, a particular account.
Cart - A place that stores registration sets while a user is browsing Twirlmate before they "checkout".
Competition Event - An event for a competition in which athletes compete, such as "Solo" or "Two Baton". A competition event has many competition event variants, and belongs to a more general "event type" defined by an organization.
Competition Event Variant - A particular level and age division within a competition event, such as Beginner 10-12 Solo.
Competition Event Variant Instance - A competition event variant for a particular year or event date.
Contestant - An athlete, duet, or team that competes in an event variant instance or all around variant instance. This is also where a judge provides their score.
Coupon - A way for event directors to provide discounts to attendees. Coupons can be for a specific dollar amount or a percentage of the total. They have an expiration date and a particular code for attendees to enter in order to use it.
Duet - A pair of athletes who compete in duet competition events. Account holders of both athletes in the duet may register the duet once both sides have confirmed the partnership.
Duet Partner Invitation - An invitation sent by one duet member to other in order to create a duet record in Twirlmate. Duets are not usable for registration until both sides have confirmed the partnership.

Event - An opportunity to participate in the twirling world, such as a contest, clinic, camp, class, or seminar.
Event Date - A particular occurrence of an event, typically representing a specific year that an event was held.
Event Date Staff Member - A person who works as a behind-the-scenes staff member, judge, or clerk for an event date. Judges and clerks will be able to see and update contestants for their assigned events. Event date staff members can manage any information for a particular event date.
Event Type - A competitive event category defined by an organization, such as "Solo" or "X-Strut". Event types have many competition events, representing times when a contest offered that particular event type.
Event Type Age Division Level Group - Restrict which age divisions and levels an event type offers. By default, event types usually offer a larger range of age divisions and levels, but some are more limited, such as "Collegiate Solo", which is often restricted to advanced athletes age 17+.
Fee - An additional charge that event directors can add to attendees' carts during the registration process. Fees can be required or optional, and charged per-family or per-athlete/attendee. An example fee might be a "Door Fee" to offset the cost of renting the facility, which all families pay to enter the contest.
Group - A studio, recreational group, or school-based team that competes in team competition events.
Group Staff Member - An account holder who manages a group and its members, typically a coach or assistant coach. Group staff can approve new requests, but they cannot delete the group itself or edit its main details. Those privileges are reserved for the group creator.
Group Student - An athlete who belongs to a particular group. Account holders can request for their athlete to join a group. Once the request is approved, they will be an "active" group student and can be added to teams within the group.
Group Age Group - A category for groups, indicating the ages of their group members, such as K-12, High School, College, or All Ages.
Group Type - A category for groups, indicating the nature/focus of the group (either competitive, recreational, or both).
Group Request - An invitation sent by a Twirlmate account holder to an external, non-Twirlmate user to create a group.
Judge - An account holder who serves as a judge for a specific organization. Account holders can be judges for many different organizations, and they would have a separate judge record for each one.
Level - A particular skill level in which athletes compete during a competition event, such as "Novice", "Beginner", "Intermediate", or "Advanced".
Order - A representation of the final transaction a user makes during the registration process. Account holders can register multiple athletes for an event, as well as register for multiple events, at the same time. The "order" is what stores all of those registrations into one place.
Organization - A governing body that defines event types, age divisions, levels, team sizes, and rules/regulations for competitive twirling events.
Performance - A record in a schedule of where and when a contestant (athlete, duet, or team) performed during a competition.
Q - Z
Registration - A record of an athlete, duet, or team who has entered 1+ competition events. Registrations belong to "registration sets", as account holders may wish to register multiple contestants for the same event (such as two different athletes, or an athlete who also competes in duet).
Registration Fee - A record of an account holder having paid a particular per-athlete fee as part of their registration.
Registration Set - A group of registrations that all belong to the same event date, but different athletes, duets, or teams. The registration set is where event directors can see who paid for each registration and the total cost.
Registration Set Fee - A record of an account holder having paid a particular per-family fee as part of their registration.
Registration Ticket - A record of an account holder having selected a particular ticket (registration option) for a clinic, camp or class. See "ticket" for more information.
Room - A location within a venue where athletes compete, such as "Main Gym" or "Auxilary Gym".
Schedule - Defines the order of competition events, vertically organized by lanes and horizontally by individual performances. Performances are grouped by competition event variant instance, and those instances are grouped by "event blocks", which the event directors defines for themselves. An "event block" might be "Modeling", which contains instances of modeling events (e.g., "Intermediate Modeling 7-9"), which contains all contestants performing in that instance.
Scoresheet - A document defined by organizations for 1 or more event types, which judges use to provide feedback to contestants. Once they associate their event with a particular organization, event directors can print out scoresheets with the names, age, and level of each contestant.
Specialty - An area of expertise a coach possesses, such as "Bodywork" or "Rhythmic Twirl". Twirlmate account holders can search coaches based on these specialties to find someone with the skills/experience their athlete needs.
Team - A set of group members who compete as a team in competition events.
Team Size - A category for team competition events, defined by an organization, such as "Small" (4 to 6 members), or "Large" (7 or more members).
Ticket - A registration option for a clinic, camp, class, or seminar, such as "Half Day" or "Full Day". Tickets have their own prices as defined by event directors, and can be limited or unlimited in quantity.
Tier - A category for contest events, such as "Open/Local", "State", "Regional", "National", or "International".
Type - A category for events, such as "Contest", "Clinic", "Camp", "Class" or "Seminar". Events can have more than one type, such as a contest that also has a clinic component.
Vendor - An account holder who completes the setup process for hosting events in Twirlmate. This involves following a step-by-step workflow with Twirlmate's secure payment processor, Stripe, so Twirlmate knows where to send attendees' payments.
