Flag Twirling
Description
Flag Twirling is a novelty event in which the athlete twirls and swings a baton shaft with a flag attached. This discipline is adjudicated using the one-baton score sheet, with logical interpretation. PENALTIES 1. All Flag Penalties begin with the opening salute and will be assessed during any overtime performance until the final salute. 2. Standard penalties apply for drops, falls, unintentional breaks or slips, undertime and overtime, failure to salute, improper salute, intentional contest delay, and using rosin powder on the floor. 3. 0.1 penalty each time the flag tangles on the shaft. Twirling while flag is intentionally wrapped around the shaft is not flag twirling. 4. 0.1 each time the flag shaft strikes the floor. If the flag sweeps the floor, there is no penalty. 5. The athlete may release the flag from the fabric. 6. 2.0 penalty for any grossly undersized flag. 7. Double flags are not permitted. 8. Salute is a 2-count courtesy pose with the flag extended toward the judge.
